Deebo Samuel is back in the headlines, but it isn’t to announce where he plans to play in 2026.

Instead, the former NFL All-Pro is making the news this afternoon for responding to some harsh criticism from former player turned podcast host Emmanuel Acho.

On a recent episode of the Speakeasy talk show hosted by Emmanuel Acho and two-time Super Bowl champion LeSean McCoy, both hosts sat down to decide the current status of the San Francisco 49ers’ wide receiver room and whether or not the team should consider a reunion with Deebo Samuel.

McCoy initially started the conversation by stating that San Francisco lacked the spark in its offense following the departure of Deebo Samuel last season, saying the 49ers could have used Samuel during “standoff games’ where a jolt was needed.

Instead of agreeing with Shady, co-host Emmanuel Acho unleashed his own opinion on Samuel and why he isn’t worth being paid by San Francisco.

“I’m not gonna pay a glorified mascot top tier money…I’m paying you to get 1,400 yards. Deebo had 700 last year and 670 the year before,” exclaimed Acho. “At the end of the day, Deebo has had 1-1,000-yard receiving seasons. ONE! JUST ONE!”

And while it may have come off harsh, there is some truth to Acho’s claim, considering the South Carolina product does have just one season to his name with over 1,000 receiving yards.

Still, Samuel would not have any of Acho’s disrespect, calling the one-time All-Pro and Pro Bowler a “mascot,” forcing the current free agent to take to his X account to call out the Speakeasy host.

Acho has never been one to hold back when there is a microphone in front of his face, so expect a reply to Samuel via X or on the next episode of the Speakeasy talk show.
