Dustin Poirier Wants Michael Chandler to Retire

Dustin Poirier explains why he wants Michael Chandler to retire.

Michael Chandler is one of the toughest UFC lightweight contenders who has gone toe to toe with some of the biggest names in the sport. While the outcome almost always remained to be the same, a defeat. His effort is not worth dismissing.

However, Dustin Poirier recently took the time to dismiss it by urging Chandler to call it quits instead of aiming to pursue a welterweight debut. The UFC officials have yet to say anything about Chandler’s welterweight aspirations.

Dustin Poirier’s Statement

Recently on the Deep Waters Podcast, Dustin Poirier shared his thoughts on Michael Chandler and his willingness to continue fighting in the UFC. Poirier can't deal with retirement and is asking other to leave the sport. Hypocritical statement.

“With all due respect, we’ve buried the hatchet and shook hands, but what are you doing? I saw a thing; I don’t know if this is official news, but he said he might move up to welterweight. If 155ers are stopping you and you’re taking all this damage, what are 170s gonna do? I want to know what he’s fighting for”.

Michael Chandler was at the cusp of stepping into one of the biggest career fights against Conor McGregor but for undisclosed reasons that fight failed to materialize into a done deal. His eyes are set for a welterweight return, it will be interesting to see how the UFC process it.
