Donald Trump has been criticised over a seven-word comment about women made during a speech celebrating the White House's UFC Freedom 250 event. The US President was speaking in Macungie, Pennsylvania, where he congratulated the fighters following the mixed martial arts event. But one remark from his speech has since gone viral on social media, with many viewers branding it unnecessary and offensive.
Addressing the crowd, Trump praised the UFC athletes, saying: "These are the strongest, toughest men on Earth." He then added: "No women in the crowd, which is nice."
Trump continued: "But these are the toughest men on Earth, and it's tremendous pressure." He later shifted his focus to the athletes' physical strength, before arguing their success was about much more than muscles alone.

He said: "You got the muscles, you guys, you got the big strong muscles, but you got this muscle too. Because it takes much more than just the normal muscle to win those matches."
The president went on to describe UFC fighters as "geniuses" in their own way, insisting there is an intelligence behind the sport that "a lot of people wouldn't understand".
The speech came shortly after UFC heavyweight fighter Josh Hokit made false and disparaging remarks about former First Lady Michelle Obama during the event.
Turning to UFC commentator Joe Rogan, Hokit said: "Michelle Obama is a man! Am I right, America?" Trump also faced criticism after appearing to smirk following the comment.
Reacting to Trump's remarks about women, social media users were quick to share their thoughts. One person said: "That's such a weird thing to say."
Another added: "I'm literally a welder. I work 13-hour days, six days a week." A third said: "What the hell. What kind of President says that?!"
Meanwhile, another user added: "There were multiple women in the crowd." And a final user said: "President Obama please come back! We need you!"
Trump's recent 'sexism' rows
It's not the first time the President has been called out over his comments towards women. Earlier this year, he was slammed over 'sexist' treatment of women's tennis team during White House event.
Trump was also accused of misogyny as he clashed with Kristen Welker during an NBC Meet the Press interview.
He used similar language when talking to a female journalist in 2015, prompting criticism from those who branded him "gross".
