The White House has responded to Ferran Torres donning a “Make Spain Great Again” hat during World Cup celebrations.
Spain secured a tight 1-0 win over 10-man Argentina in a largely uneventful World Cup Final at MetLife Stadium on Sunday. Torres came off the bench to score the winning goal as the European champions clinched World Cup glory after Enzo Fernandez's red card.
Spain has since returned to Europe and celebrated the World Cup win in the streets with fans. While sports parade celebrations are remembered for their custom T-shirts, gigantic champagne goggles, and trophies being lifted above buses, Torres sported a notable look, going shirtless with a familiar style hat.

Torres shared his parade outfit on Instagram. His hat looked like Donald Trump's well-known red MAGA cap, but it actually said, “Make Spain Great Again.”
On Tuesday, the White House responded by posting X. In response to Torres’ red-and-white hat, which appeared to be worn in a mocking manner given Trump’s shadow over the World Cup, the White House account wrote: “Everyone wants to be part of the movement.”
The President gave Torres his winner's medal after the final, and Torres shook his hand before joining the trophy celebrations. Argentina defender Cristian Romero seemed to avoid shaking Trump's hand, while Spain reserve forward Borja Iglesias reluctantly did after speaking out against it.
Torres’ hat is not the only time Trump has been somewhat mocked. When Romelu Lukaku scored to make the score 4-1 against the USMNT, Belgium celebrated by doing the Trump dance. Spain’s Mikel Merino and Victor Munoz were also seen imitating Trump's dance during medal celebrations, including doing so when FIFA President Gianni Infantino desperately tried to get the 80-year-old off the stage.

Trump was booed when he appeared on the screen at MetLife Stadium as he walked out to present medals with Infantino. The two share a uniquely close relationship; Trump and Infantino were both accused of corrupting the games after the red card issued to Folarin Balogun during the USMNT's Round of 16 match against Belgium was suspended.
The President recently took a shot at Spain, calling its financial situation "horrendous."
For Torres, he is Spain’s hero. His only goal of the World Cup came in the final, when he came off the bench to replace Mikel Oyarzabal to win the game. He took three shots, put two on target, and delivered the moment that ended Argentina's and Lionel Messi's World Cup hopes in Messi's final appearance.
His celebrations rolled into Spain, where Torres - whose relationship ended on the eve of the tournament - appeared shirtless on top of an open-top parade bus surrounded by packed streets of supporters. Torres also posted on social media with his trophy, posing with Shakira, Kevin Hart, teammates like Aymeric Laporte, and Spanish singer and media personality Omar Montes.
