Just when it seemed Caleb Williams had finally turned the corner in Chicago, an old criticism found its way back into the spotlight. As optimism builds ahead of the 2026 season, one NFL insider believes his body language remains the league’s biggest concern.
Former New York Jets scout Daniel Kelly shared footage on X showing Caleb Williams visibly frustrated with himself during the Bears’ game against the Minnesota Vikings on November 16.
“As a former NFL scout, I believe Caleb Williams has the worst body language in the NFL,” Kelly wrote while commenting on footage of Williams from the First Round Mock account on X on July 20.
Showing frustration after a bad play is something every player in the league does, but things are a bit different when it comes to Williams. Time and again, he has lost his composure, which has cost his team, and Daniel Kelly expressed exactly that on his X account.
“Next time you watch him in a game, pay close attention to his body language. It takes next to nothing for him to lose his composure,” wrote Kelly.
Back in his rookie year with the Bears, the team stumbled to a disastrous 5-12 record. He took a career-high 68 sacks that season. Those back-to-back losses took a visible toll on Williams as he sank deeper into disappointment.
Last year, before the start of the 2025 season, head coach Ben Johnson said in an interview with ESPN that they had worked with Williams on his body language, expecting to see a change.
“We come to an agreement, no it’s not. OK, we learn from it, we move on to the next thing. We don’t want to be a ‘palms-up team’ where we’re questioning everything,” said Johnson to ESPN’s Courtney Cronin.
The Bears improved to 11–6 last season. However, despite the team’s success, Daniel Kelly believes Caleb Williams has body language issues, but fans would beg to differ.

Daniel Kelly’s criticism of Caleb Williams’ body language backfired on him as fans completely turned against his remarks. In the very same X post, they backed Williams while criticizing Kelly.
“You’re an idiot. Every QB worth a d*** gets upset when things don’t go their way,” said a fan.
That same sentiment was shared by another fan, who believed the former scout had taken the criticism a bit too far.
“As a former NFL scout, you should just stop tweeting. Your takes give me second-hand embarrassment. Find something you’re actually good at and do that,” one fan criticized.
Another fan applauded Williams’ body language, stating that at least he is showing some emotion, unlike others.
“It’s called emotion. It means he cares. I don’t like QBs that throw a pic and then walk off applauding,” wrote a fan.
One of the fans supported Kelly in his analysis, expressing that Williams might end up on the bench this season.
“Ben will end up benching him before this season is over. He will had enough of his inaccuracy,” a fan opined.
Lastly, the criticism persisted as one fan pointed out the emotional side of the game.
“As a former NFL scout, you’re more r******* now than you ever have been. Amazing feat,” said a fan.
