De'Aaron Fox turns signature sneaker into personal canvas with new Sharpie collaboration

The Spurs guard's new Sharpie x Under Armour Fox 2 is covered in hand-drawn artwork inspired by his family, basketball journey and personal creativity ahead of its July 23 release.

De'Aaron Fox is putting more than his name on his latest signature sneaker - he's putting his story on it.

The San Antonio Spurs guard has teamed up with Under Armour and Sharpie on a special Fox 2 colorway featuring hand-drawn artwork inspired by the people, memories and moments that have shaped his life.

The Sharpie x Under Armour Fox 2 will be released July 23 for $130.

Rather than designing just another colorway, Fox said he wanted the sneaker to reflect who he is.

"Some of the sketches on here - you see the fox, obviously, playing off my last name. My logo's in it, basketball, Swiper," Fox said.

The artwork also pays tribute to Fox's family. A rose represents his son, Reign, while a California poppy honors his daughter, Poppy.

"I love the way that it kind of just blends together," Fox said.

The mostly white sneaker features black, Sharpie-style sketches across the strap, heel and midsole, including Fox's logo, basketballs, crowns, arrows, flowers and fox illustrations that resemble pages from a sketchbook. The hand-drawn graphics reflect the people, moments and memories that have shaped Fox's life on and off the court.

Fox said partnering with Sharpie was an easy decision because it was already a brand he grew up using.

"I've been using Sharpies since I was a kid," he said. "To be able to collaborate with a brand that's been part of my life for so long makes this sneaker even more meaningful."

For Fox, the sneaker is more than performance footwear - it's a personal expression of the journey that brought him to the NBA.

"I think personal expression through sneakers allows you to show people things they might not know about you," Fox said. "A lot of people who have shoes do colorways for their kids, a show they like or a car they had. It could mean something to you."

He hopes fans will see the Fox 2 as more than a basketball shoe - but as a reminder that even the smallest details can tell a personal story.

"What I hope people take away from this collaboration is to always be yourself," Fox said. "When you have a Sharpie, when you have something in your hand that lets you create, do whatever you want. Whether you're drawing on your shoes, a piece of paper or a whiteboard, make sure it's true to you."

The collaboration is the latest addition to Fox's growing signature sneaker line with Under Armour as the Spurs guard continues to expand his brand off the court ahead of the upcoming NBA season.
