D.C. police said a man is in custody after he allegedly shot another man to death in Northeast on the Fourth of July.

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — D.C. police said a man is in custody after he allegedly shot another man to death in Northeast on the Fourth of July.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, just minutes before 6 a.m. on July 4, officers responded to the 1800 block of Irving Street NE for the report of an unconscious person.

Woman stabbed on Braddock Road in Alexandria, 1 detained

There, police found Adeyinka Aderemi, 55, unconscious and not breathing. Medics responded to the scene and pronounced the Northeast D.C. man dead.

About two weeks later, on Tuesday, authorities arrested George Shaw, 53, of Northeast in connection with the shooting. He was charged with first-degree murder while armed (premeditated).
