The Los Angeles Dodgers have been up and down to start the unofficial second half of their season, now sitting at 2-2 after the All-Star break following a recent road loss to the Philadelphia Phillies. Some have wondered if the Dodgers might look to make a splash at the upcoming MLB trade deadline in order to shore up their pitching department amid an onslaught of injuries.
However, manager Dave Roberts recently took a different perspective on things when discussing Los Angeles’ trade deadline strategy.
“I could almost argue that we’re sellers more than buyers,” Roberts told The California Post, per Dylan Hernandez of the New York Post.

“Personally, I don’t see any glaring needs,” he added. “I really don’t.”
The Dodgers have had some major injury issues in the pitching room this year, with Tyler Glasnow, Blake Snell, Edwin Diaz, Shohei Ohtani, and more missing extensive time from the mound due to various ailments.
Roberts also gave an update on Ohtani after his ongoing knee issue forced Los Angeles to delay his next pitching start indefinitely.
“Because it’s not gotten better, the All-Star break, the Orthovisc shot, not pitching him, all that stuff is trying to give us the best chance for him to be out of the woods entirely,” Roberts said.
Overall, the Dodgers are still in excellent position, sitting with the best record in the NL West, and baseball overall, by a country mile and looking to add a third straight World Series to their trophy case.
However, for a team that has been accused of buying championships as opposed to earning them, Roberts’ claim of Los Angeles being “sellers” this year might ruffle some feathers.
