The City of Angels really does make dreams come true.

While riding the TMZ tour bus on Tuesday, a woman interrupted Machete star and Los Angeles legend Danny Trejo with a shocking reveal: She is his niece.

“Are you kidding?” Trejo exclaimed. The outlet’s camera operator attempted to fill the rest of the bus in on the stunning, apparently unplanned family reunion happening live by calling out, “That’s his niece!” But Trejo was locked in on the conversation with his newfound kin, gushing, “I have a relative on this bus. How do you like that?”

Moments before the passenger’s interjection, Trejo told the tourists riding along, “Everything good that has happened to me has happened as a direct result of helping someone else.”

Overcome, Trejo looked directly into the camera with his arm around his niece, who is the daughter of his estranged sister, Marlene, and announced, “Harvey, I love you man.” The adulation was directed at Harvey Levin, the co-creator and editor of the tabloid news organization.

Trejo’s niece’s daughter rode alongside her mom on Tuesday and added that their branch of the family tree also loves Levin.

“I’ve been watching TMZ since I was, like, 5 because of her,” she joked.

Trejo hails from the Los Angeles suburb of Maywood, located directly south of historic East L.A. Trejo wrote about his turbulent upbringing in his 2021 memoir Trejo: My Life of Crime. His father, Dionisio, for years prevented his son from seeing his mother, Delores, and his half sister, Dyhan.

Trejo got his start in Hollywood appearing in films like Runaway Train and Death Wish 4: The Crackdown before breaking out with roles in Desperado, From Dusk Till Dawn, and Anaconda. He eventually married four times and has three children: Danny Boy, Gilbert, and Danielle.

He’s now a family man, taking every opportunity to show his pride in his children. He opened up about the intense “booger cry” he had while shooting a scene in Gilbert’s emotional 2025 film From a Son.

“I wanted to kind of do it like John Wayne. ‘Okay, pilgrim, we gotta be strong.’ But he kept showing me baby pictures all week! ‘Hey, dad, remember this? Check this out. Remember this?’” he said. When Gilbert “finally said cut, the whole crew was crying. It was like they knew that I was not just acting. Me and him really bonded over that.”
