Courteney Cox is reportedly leaning on one of her Friends castmates after her breakup from Johnny McDaid.
In late June, it was reported that Cox, 62, and the Snow Patrol musician, 49, split after 10 years together. Now, insiders are claiming that she's been getting closer to her longtime friend, Matt LeBlanc, amid her breakup.
"Courteney's been quietly licking her wounds for months. She didn't tell many people when she and Johnny broke up because she just couldn't face everyone having an opinion," a source told Heatworld. "But she did confide in a handful of people, including Matt [LeBlanc]. They have so much history and this lifelong bond, but they did kind of lose touch over the years, life got so busy, especially for Courteney."
LeBlanc has been single since breaking up with Top Gear producer Aurora Mulligan in 2022 and while there is no suggestion that Cox and LeBlanc have started a romantic relationship, sources claim that Cox's friends are onboard with this potential couple.
"Of course, that has people around them saying that they should be more than friends, that maybe the person they've been looking for has been there all along, they just need to open their eyes and see it," a source said.
Cox and LeBlanc have reportedly been closer than ever since the death of their Friends co-star Matthew Perry in 2023. "After Matthew's death, the whole cast came together to help each other through the grief, and since then they've stayed super-tight, and they've all made a real effort to stay in each other's lives," the insider said.
"Courteney started checking in on Matt a lot more because she was worried about him being lonely," said a source. ‘But then her relationship with Johnny imploded, and the tables slowly turned as Matt stepped up to support her through this. He has a way of making her laugh and see life in a different way when she's feeling down, and that's done wonders for her. She says he's been the best medicine."
Cox, who shares a daughter with ex-husband David Arquette, started dating McDaid in 2013 and got engaged nine months later. They called off their engagement in late 2015 but reconciled the following year and decided to not get re-engaged. They quietly split sometime between late 2025 and early 2026.
