In this College Football 27 Dynasty Guide for Beginners, we want to help new players understand CFB 27’s biggest mode a bit better. This year, the developers added a brand new Dynasty Blueprint system, Athletic Director Expectations, and NIL. Dynasty is all about managing your team as you seek to win games, recruit talented players, and build the ultimate program. Without further ado, let’s dive right in.

College Football 27 Dynasty Guide For Beginners – What is Dynasty Mode?

Dynasty Mode serves as the Franchise Mode of College Football 27. Overall, the main goal is to lead your college program to glory by performing well on the field while recruiting talented players. Of course, there’s a bit more to it than that, and CFB 27 adds more features that add more depth to the experience.

College Football 27 offers players the choice of creating an offline and online league. As the names suggest, an online league lets you play with friends, and CFB 27 still features Cross-Play in Dynasty. Additionally, you can only use Team Builder Teams in an Online Dynasty.

But with an offline league, you don’t need to be connected to the internet to play. So when the game’s servers eventually shut down, you’ll still be able to play a specific offline file. Regardless, both offline and online leagues can be played for up to 30 seasons.

No matter which type of league you create, you need to select the active or default roster. The former allows you to use the most updated rosters in the game. Check out our guide on how to update your rosters in the game.

After that, you have the option to start your league right away. But before we begin, we recommend editing some of the settings before you start. You can always change them later on, but it’s good to set these up ahead of time.

These settings range from difficulty, quarter lengths, gameplay sliders, injuries, and much more. Furthermore, you have the ability to edit the league’s structure. Some things you can customize include:

• Divisions & Division Names
• Number of Conference Games
• Conference Championship game location
• & More

Selecting a School – College Football 27 Dynasty Guide

Feel free to select whatever school you want to play as. In an online league, feel free to import your Team Builder team, if you created one. If you don’t know how, check out our Team Builder Guide on how to create and import your team.

The three things we want to suggest before picking a school is to look at their School Grade, Dynasty Blueprint, and Athletic Director Expectations. Each School is graded on 14 different criteria, all of which determine their Team Prestige. These grades include:

• Playing Style – Seasonal stats determine this rating
• Proximity To Home – Unique to each recruit based on where they live
• Championship Contender – Likeliness of your school winning the national championship
• Program Tradition – Success of your school based on their history
• Campus Lifestyle – Student experience between games on campus
• Stadium Atmosphere – How much home field advantage your school generates
• Pro Potential – Likeliness of your player going pro
• Brand Exposure – How much attention your school receives relative to the rest of the nation
• Academic Prestige – Academic success
• Conference Prestige – Strength of conference relative to the rest of the nation
• Coach Stability – Organization’s confidence as well as Coach’s experience in the league
• Coach Prestige – Quality of Coaches
• Athletic Facilities  – Overall quality of Football Facilities
• Playing Time – How soon your recruit will hit the field

Some My School Grades can’t be changed, like Proximity to Home, or Academic Prestige. However, most grades can be improved, which in turn, improves your Team Prestige.

Conference Prestige is technically another one you can’t control directly. However, you can “force” your conference rivals to win more games. But doing this also means you need to watch out for them taking your spot in the polls.

Overall, Team Prestige represents the composite value of all school grades. Therefore, the better your grades, the better your Team Prestige. Remember all of this, as it’ll help you recruit talented prospects.

Furthermore, make sure to check out each school’s Dynasty Blueprint. Essentially, this represents the amount of points a school can use during a year on things like the Facilities, Staff, and NIL (Recruiting & Roster). Your Dynasty Points play a pivotal role in determining how much you can spend in a given year. The number can increase or decrease based on your school’s:

• Program Tradition
• Stadium Atmosphere
• Brand Exposure
• Conference Prestige

And lastly, check each school’s expectations from the Athletic Director. Want to coach for Ohio State? Make sure you can beat Michigan. Want to coach for a lower-rated school like Temple? Make sure you can sign five players from PA.

Some ADs are more lenient, while others are more strict. However, achieving their expectations will not only boost your job security, but it will earn you some extra Dynasty Points. Therefore, do your best to keep your AD happy and try to meet their expectations.

With all that in mind, select the school of your choice. Fortunately, the game allows you to use whatever playbook you want. For example, you could be the head coach of Florida, and use Oregon’s offensive playbook.

Now it’s time to pick a Coach!

Coach Background – College Football 27 Dynasty Guide

Another thing you’ll need to do before beginning is selecting or creating your own Coach. Dynasty allows you to play as a Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator, and Defensive Coordinator. If this is your first time playing Dynasty, we recommend starting as a Head Coach. You’ll be able to manage every aspect of the team.

If you do decide to start as a coordinator, you can still earn a Head Coaching Opportunity down the road. However, you’ll only be able to manage one side of the team, as opposed to the entire program.

Furthermore, you can use a real coach, or create your own. CFB 27 features hundreds real coaches, including big names like Lane Kiffin and Ryan Day. These coaches already come with pre-determined backgrounds and abilities. So for the sake of this guide, we’re going to assume you created your own coach.

The first thing you’ll tasked with is selecting your backstory. Overall, the game offers three:

• Motivator – Unlocks Motivator Skill tree, influences player ratings and composure
• Recruiter – Unlocks Recruiter Skill tree, influences player recruitment
• Tactician – Unlocks Tactician Skill Tee, influences schemes

Personally, we prefer the Recruiter backstory. This backstory gives you instant access to the Recruiter Skill Tree. Upgrading these Skills helps give you an edge when recruiting players.

After you finish creating your coach, you’ll sign your contract and begin your career!

Understanding The Menus – College Football 27 Dynasty Guide

When you finally begin Dynasty, you might feel bombarded by all the different menus and things you need to do. Have no fear, as we’ll break down each menu and explain what each contains.

The Actions Menu lets you Play Games, visit your Recruiting board, set your weekly practice plan, check out your Dynasty Blueprint, and even set up a custom schedule. Keep in mind that you can only create a custom schedule before the season officially begins. Afterward, this option disappears until the following year.

Furthermore, you must play 12 games in a season. Furthermore, you do not have the option of editing conference games. As for the Recruiting Board, check out our full Recruiting Guide to acquaint yourself with the system.

The Members menu lets you add users if you created an online league. Furthermore, you can use this as a quick refresher to see who’s in the league and what teams they control.

The CFB Menu lets you see information regarding rankings. From preseason polls, to team schedules, to bowl projections and more, the CFB menu is where you’ll find information on the season, except for stats.

In the Coach Menu, you can upgrade your Coach Abilities, check out your XP goals, look at your contract, and edit your coach or his scheme.

The Team Menu lets you customize your depth chart, roster, Auto Subs, and more. Furthermore, you can even view injuries here, practice, and Redshirt players. Check out our guide on how to Redshirt players in College Football 27.

Stats & Records sounds exactly like what you’d expect. Look at season stats, career stats, team stats, Coach Stats, Records, and even the new CFB History Room. Furthermore, you can also view your Trophy Room from here.

Lastly, Dynasty Central lets you edit the league’s settings, XP and Gameplay Sliders, User settings, and league members. Additionally, this is where you can retire, if you wish.

Coach Abilities & XP – College Football 27 Dynasty Guide

Throughout your journey, you’ll earn XP. And when you earn enough XP, you level up, earning Coach Points to spend on abilities. Depending on your backstory, you can only upgrade that tree from the beginning. However, as you keep playing, you’ll unlock new skill trees with even more abilities to unlock.

To unlock these new trees, check out the Coach Abilities Menu and go over each locked tree to see what’s required. Furthermore, you can even unlock elite abilities after completing even more challenges in each tree.

Managing Your Blueprint – College Football 27 Dynasty Guide

As we mentioned before, when you pick a school in College Football 27 Dynasty, you should learn how much DP they have in their Dynasty Blueprint. Each team has their own starting budget, which can increase or decrease. For example, the Purdue Boilermakers have a starting amount of 1,855 out of 3,400 Dynasty Points. Other schools possess more or less based on a few factors.

Overall, your Dynasty Blueprint’s budget is based off of your team’s:

• Conference Prestige
• Brand Exposure
• Stadium Atmosphere
• Program Tradition
• Miscellaneous (i.e., Coach Abilities, Support Staff, NIL that’s already been offered to recruits)
• Contract Goals (AD Expectations)

Conference Prestige, Brand Exposure, Stadium Atmosphere, and Program Tradition is where you get the most Dynasty Points. Meanwhile, DP earned from Miscellaneous and Contract Goals are small but add that little extra that may help in the long run. Overall, maintaining these grades can help your team keep a high budget. But what exactly do you do with DP?

Overall, Dynasty Points can be used to upgrade, maintain, or earn:

• Your Staff (Blue) – Used to hire coaching & support staff, which can lead to reduction in some prices while granting more DP.
• Facilities (Purple) –
• Recruits NIL (Orange)
• Roster NIL (Yellow)

When you go to the “Manage Blueprint” screen, you’ll be taken to a chart that shows your team’s current budget and spending. Furthermore, below that chart you’ll see a timeline with little icons beneath it.

• From Preseason to In-Season – You may allocate DP towards Staff and Facilities
• In-Season to Bowl Season – You may allocate DP towards Recruit NIL and Facilities
• From Bowl Season to Offseason – You may allocate DP towards Staff
• During Offseason & End of Year Recap – You may allocate DP towards any category

Keep in mind that you only have a limited amount of DP to spend each season. On the left side of the chart, you can select any of those four categories, which takes you into a separate menu for each one.

For Staff, only Head Coaches can manage them. If you started as an OC or DC, you do not need to worry about this section. Again, this is why we recommend being a Head Coach for your first playthrough so you can receive the full experience.

This section lets you hire coordinators and support staff members. The Support Staff members range from recruiters, graduate assistants, trainers, analysts, and others who play a pivotal role in your team’s development. Once you choose your staff, they’re locked in for the season. Furthermore, the higher your team prestige, the more support staff you can hire (a maximum of five).

Overall, Staff Members can have the following effects on a team:

• Reduce DP costs for hiring other staff members
• Reduce NIL Expectations from players
• Increase weekly recruiting hours & offseason player progression
• Increase DP fundraising during annual budget refresh

Additionally, there are four tiers of staff members (Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum). As these ranks suggest, higher ranking members offer stronger effects but at the cost of more DP. We recommend not stacking staff members with the same effect, as one platinum or gold staff member already makes a big contribution.

Coordinators also matter, but in a different way. They all possess their own abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. If you don’t feel like they’re a fit, you can fire them during the Conference Championship week and hire their replacement during the Bowl Season. Coordinators may also leave for new opportunities, meaning you may need to negotiate to keep them around.

Hiring Coordinators now costs DP, with each coordinator possessing their own expected DP value. These are influenced by your coach level and school’s team prestige. Before making an offer, you can see their abilities and press Triangle/Y to see their archetypes. You may offer up to two times an coordinator’s expected value.

Overall, players may make up to six offers for each side of the ball at a time (6 OCs, 6 DCs). And if you’re unable to find a coordinator, one will automatically be assigned to you. Furthermore, free agent coaches are also available if you need a low-cost option. They cost nothing, but also provide nothing.

Facilities can be upgraded throughout the Dynasty experience, which helps you develop players and make your program more appealing to recruits. However, upgrading and maintaining facilities isn’t cheap, meaning you need to dedicate a good amount of DP if you want the premium facilities.

Overall, there are five tiers for Facilities:

• Basic Facility: F (1 equipment slot)
• Competitive Facility: D- to D+ (2 equipment slots)
• Premier Facility: C- to C+ (3 equipment slots)
• Elite Facility: B- to B+ (4 equipment slots)
• National Powerhouse: A- to A+ (5 equipment slots)

Each tier also grants you access to an extra equipment slot. Different equipment provide various upgrades, like increasing your grade within your facility tier. However, they alone can’t actually move you from an Elite Facility to a Powerhouse. Nevertheless, they make a difference when trying to recruit new players. Having an A+ vs. An A- can be the deciding factor if somebody wants to go to your school.

Additionally, Equipment can do other things like:

• Increase Athletic Facilities grade (within your current facility tier)
• Increase duration of equipment effects
• Reduce Wear & Tear, Season Health usage, and Practice injury chance

You can upgrade your facilities once per year, but your facilities can actually downgrade if you don’t maintain it. If you do decide to upgrade, your facility will undergo construction and won’t be available until the following preseason.

Furthermore, higher grade facilities cost more to maintain. That said, we definitely recommend upgrading your facility and maintaining them solely for the return you get on them. Better recruits, better player development, and another high grade for your school make Facility maintenance a must.

Lastly, we come to NIL, which plays a major role in recruiting and keeping players. You can spend DP on convincing players to come to your school during the recruiting phase. Overall, NIL is broken into two types in CFB 27:

Recruit NIL is used to convince recruits to come to your program. In previous CFB games, you could only increase a Recruit’s interest via the recruiting board (spending hours, scheduling visits, offering scholarships). But in College Football 27, NIL gives you another way of securing the player you want.

A recruit’s expected NIL cost depends on how your school grades, their dealbreakers, and their star rating. Higher rated recruits will demand more NIL, but their value may not be as high if you’re a great fit for them.

Recruit NIL applies to high school and transfer students, while Roster NIL applies to current players. Our recruiting guide has more details on how to recruit players in College Football 27.

Roster NIL is driven by a ton of different factors. A player’s position, rating, school year, and awards may impact their expected NIL value. Furthermore, their dealbreaker, your team prestige, and their previous NIL values also play a role. If you gave a player too much NIL, they may be too expensive to keep the following season. Even Brand Exposure can impact where a player goes.

A player’s expected NIL value can also increase if you haven’t been keeping high grades in the right areas. If they wanted to play for a Championship contender, and you missed the playoffs two years in a row, they may want to play elsewhere.

We recommend not overly-exceeding the suggested amount of DP on Roster and Recruiting NIL early in your Dynasty career. Unless a player is out of your reach, most players seem to be fine signing within their expected NIL range. Unless there’s somebody you really want, it’s best to reserve DP for your facilities and staff to improve your school grades.

As your DP ceiling increases, feel free to be a bit more aggressive with your spending. But remember that any player you sign for a high amount will expect similar numbers next year.

Of course, you also need to consider the school you chose. Are you coaching for LSU? Or are you coaching for Sam Houston? Who you coach for also plays a role in how much you start with. So don’t fret if your Southern Miss team wasn’t able to land that 4-star LB.

Lastly, you’ll be able to spend the entire preseason solely on Scouting. This gives you some time to identify the players you want. Once Week 0 begins, you can begin offering scholarships. The scholarship offer page is where you can decide how many points you want to spend on a player. Always refer to your current budget before sending an offer!

While you can adjust your offer, lowering it may negatively impact your relationship with the recruit. This may give another team the lead in signing him. Fortunately, any recruits you don’t sign or remove from your board instantly rewards you with all the DP you spent.

Recruits don’t often care too much about NIL (unless they are four or five-star athletes). However, transfers tend to care a lot more about it. While you still need to pitch your program to them, they may place more interest in NIL. You can keep track of all of this in the Blueprint menu.

Recruiting – College Football 27 Dynasty Guide

We covered this subject more in our Recruiting guide. However, we still want to label a few important points for those who want something more condensed. Therefore, we listed below the main points of recruiting:

• You have a dedicated amount of hours every week to scout and recruit players
• You have a limited amount of scholarships to offer (you can offer scholarships after the Preseason ends)
• To scout a new player, you must visit the Prospect List and select them
• Each prospect has their interests, which you’ll need to learn about via scouting and influencing. Your school grade may impact a recruit’s interest in your school.
• You can spend up to 50 hours per week on recruiting a new player. There are multiple ways to influence a player, including:
• You can also spend that time Pitching your school to the player if you know their interests. However, you can only pitch to the player when you’ve entered their top five schools.
• When you receive a Verbal commitment, you’re more than likely to sign that prospect
• If a prospect doesn’t want you, you’ll be locked out of recruiting them
• When offering a Scholarship, you may offer NIL, which costs Dynasty Points
• There are Two Signing days:

Scheduling visits does not take time away from your 50 hour maximum on a single recruit. However, it does take time off your total hours for the week. So if you really want a certain prospect, schedule an early visit, Send the House, and offer a scholarship ASAP.

When do you schedule a visit, try to set it for a tougher matchup. The risk/reward is greater, but very much worth if it you win. Feel free to customize your schedule if you want to play the top teams in the league.

Transfer Portal – College Football 27 Dynasty Guide

The Transfer Portal works very similarly to the regular recruiting process. However, it runs for a very limited amount of time, acting as a “micro-recruiting” process.

You don’t have much time to influence Transfers, so if there’s someone you really want, don’t wait to pursue them. Transfers are great if you still have a position need to fill but you don’t want a low-star recruit.

Conversely, you need to watch out for players who are at risk of transferring. You receive an update of which players are at risk. But you can also check to see which players need what on the My School Page in your Recruitment board.

Wear & Tear – College Football 27 Dynasty Guide

Wear & Tear returns to College Football 27, and the system works the same in Dynasty. Essentially, every hit your player takes, every snap they take puts some level of tear on their body.

Fortunately, you can check out your player’s Wear & Tear levels in several ways:

• Player Reticle
• Depth Chart
• Coach Vision
• Play Call Menu
• Dynasty Player Card
• & More

There’s no shortage of ways to find out how your player is doing in terms of health. The colors of wear & tear range from yellow to red (Yellow being minor, red indicating serious levels of damage). Typically, you want to sub out players often to ensure everyone stays healthy during a game.

Some players possess abilities that make them more durable. But for the most part, you often need to rest your players. However, you can also turn this option off, or even customize the levels of Wear & Tear.

Fortunately, College Football 27’s rosters are much larger than the 53-man roster in Madden. You could have five RBs and use all of them in a single game. A good rule of thumb is to bench your players when you have a strong lead.

Thankfully, CFB 27 also features a Dynamic Subs menu. By pressing right on the D-Pad, you can swiftly change who’s coming in on the next play and beyond. Make good use of this new feature, but keep your eye on the clock, too!

Tips & Tricks – College Football 27 Dynasty Guide

For those who want a more relaxed experience, here are a few settings to make your life easier:

• XP Sliders – Adjusts how much XP you receive per week. Boost the XP gain to receive more Coach Points in a season.
• Gameplay Difficulty – Play on Freshman or Varsity if this is your first time playing CFB
• Gameplay Sliders – Adjust sliders for both your team and the CPU.
