Carolina Panthers’ rookies reported to Bank of America Stadium on July 21, veterans reported on the 22nd, and the first practice is scheduled for the 23rd. One rookie to watch throughout the summer is cornerback Jaylon Guilbeau, who signed a three-year, $3.115 million undrafted free agent contract with a $15,000 signing bonus and $115,000 guaranteed.

Guilbeau played college football for the Texas Longhorns from 2022 to 2025, totaling 124 tackles, eight tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, and ten pass deflections across 43 games and 27 starts. He logged 819 snaps in the slot along with 510 on the outside, per PFF.

In his rookie season, he will compete for a roster spot or a place on the practice squad. Unfortunately, he suffered a setback.

The Carolina Panthers placed an undrafted free agent on the NFI list

On X, the Panthers announced they have placed Jaylon Guilbeau on the active/non-football injury list, where he will still count toward the 90-man roster, with an undisclosed injury. Guilbeau can return to practice at any time and can be activated from the NFI list once he passes a physical. If he remains on the NFI list, Carolina can revert him to the reserve/NFI list during roster cuts, causing him to miss at least the first four games.

Guilbeau was not the only CB placed on the NFI list

In addition, the Panthers also placed Jaycee Horn on the NFI list. Horn sustained a laceration on his foot while running that required stitches. The good news is that the two-time Pro Bowler is expected to return to training camp soon and will not remain on the NFI list for too long.
