The new trailer for the re-rebooted Real Housewives of New York is a delicious confection of low-stakes drama (a billionaire’s house is actually a dump) and high-stakes drama (a woman is in a lavender marriage). And then smack-dab in the middle of it is drama about the Epstein files. Wait, what? Well, Carole Radziwill is returning to the cast this year. Originally, she was announced as a “friend of,” but the most recent press release says she “reclaims her apple,” implying she’s in the full-time cast. As she walks down the street in the new trailer, someone shouts at her, “She’s the one in the Epstein files!” Radziwell was, in fact, mentioned in some of the public files because she knew Ghislaine Maxwell, but she’s denied knowing Jeffrey Epstein himself. Still, it’s fodder for the show: “You think I’m part of an international sex-trafficking ring?” she asks at one point. RHONY is still breaking new ground.
,Elsewhere in the trailer, we see the return of three Housewives from last season. Sai De Silva, Erin Lichy, and Jessel Taank are all back, while Brynn Whitfield, Ubah Hassan, Jenna Lyons, and Racquel Chevremont are out. The first-time additions are Erika Hammond, the billionaire with an island that Erin calls a “dump”; Hailey Glassman, a publicist sleeping with women outside her straight marriage; and Daisy Toye, a celebrity makeup artist who opens the trailer with her client Martha Stewart. That’s all bonkers, as it should be in Housewives world. We’ll see if it pays off after a disastrous season 15 when season 16 premieres on Bravo on September 8, with episodes streaming next day on Peacock. We’ll be watching (and maybe the FBI will be, too).
