Carole Radziwill is officially back in The Real Housewives of New York City world.
RHONY season 16 brings back Radziwill, who left the franchise in 2018. While it was initially reported that she would be in a “friend” role, Radziwill is revealed as a full-time Housewife in Tuesday’s press release.
In the trailer, the journalist and author faces her past in challenging moments, including being mentioned in the explosive Epstein files and her family being dramatized in the Ryan Murphy-produced show Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette.
In one clip, while out in New York, Radziwill is confronted by a bystander who shouts “she’s the one from the Epstein files.” When asked if she ever went to the infamous Epstein island, she is dumbfounded.
“You think I’m part of an international sex-trafficking ring?” Radziwill responds point-blank to a costar.
The Epstein files included an email exchange between Radziwill and former friend Ghislaine Maxwell, who worked with disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein. (Epstein died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial for sex trafficking charges.)
“Imagine knowing someone and even being friendly with them and then they turn out to be, like, a monster,” Radziwill told The New York Times in March.
“The thing about her that made it easy for me to spend any time with her at all was that she was very intelligent, she was educated,” Radziwill continued of Maxwell, who she was friends with for several years in the early aughts. “If you lined up 10 women and you asked, like, pick the woman who would be involved in an international sex trafficking ring, it would not be her.” (Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2022.)

At another point in the RHONY teaser, Radziwill is emotional, sitting on the beach. “Everyone’s American Love Story is my American Horror Story,” she says.
Though Radziwill wasn’t portrayed in the Ryan Murphy-produced series, which renewed interest in the Kennedy family, she knew the subjects very well. Her late husband, Anthony Radziwill, was JFK Jr.’s cousin and played by Erich Bergen on the show.
JFK Jr. and Bessette died in a plane crash off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard, along with Bessette’s sister Lauren, in July 1999. (Radziwill was the one who called the Coast Guard to report JFK Jr. and Bessette missing.) Weeks later, the journalist’s husband died of cancer. Her 2005 memoir. What Remains, details their relationships, the subsequent tragedies, and her grief.
Radziwill addressed the show’s romanticizing of the tragedies on her Substack page. “Sitting here now, we know how it ended,” she said in February. “And yet the story keeps being told. Reinvented. Embroidered. Filled with details no one could possibly know, by people who weren’t there and don’t care about the truth. We think we own our stories. We don’t. Not in life, and certainly not in death.”
“But now I am at peace with it all. I no longer worry about misrepresentations, false narratives, or bent truths. I don’t flinch at flat, lifeless descriptions or cornball storylines. I don’t care whether people get it wrong, get it right, or ever know what they were really like,” she added.
Joining Radziwill for season 16 are returning Housewives Sai de Silva, Erin Lichy, and Jessel Taank and newcomers Hailey Glassman, Erika Hammond, and Daisy Toye.
Per an official synopsis, “The city that never sleeps lights up when this ambitious group of Housewives takes on another unforgettable season. From the concrete jungle to the sandy beaches of a private island, they work hard and play even harder as some friendships grow stronger, new ones form, and others take unexpected turns.”

The Real Housewives of New York City season 16 premieres on Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo and will be available to stream on Peacock the following day.
