Aaron Rodgers has revealed that he has reunited with his family following years of estrangement.

The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, 42, shared a series of heartfelt pictures of himself with his mom, Darla Rodgers, his dad, Ed Rodgers, his older brother, Luke Rodgers, and his sister-in-law, Aimee Rodgers, along with a young girl who appeared to be his niece in an Instagram post on Monday, July 20.

Aaron has been estranged from his parents and two brothers for nearly a decade, with the family feud first becoming public knowledge in 2016 when his younger brother, Jordan Rodgers, appeared on JoJo Fletcher’s season of The Bachelorette and claimed Aaron had distanced himself from the family.

Alongside the photos, Aaron captioned the post: “Another bonding week. #fam.”

While he did not post any pictures with Jordan, the pair do follow each other on Instagram, and Jordan liked Aaron’s post.

The post has since racked up 205,000 likes and many comments from fans supporting the reunion. One wrote: “Good. I’m proud of you 💯🥰,” while another said: “This is wonderful to see!!❤️.”

A third wrote: “This actually is so good to see 🥹 and gives hope to others,” while a fourth added: “This makes me so happy for all of you. Healing ❤️‍🩹.”

One snap saw Aaron smiling as he embraced his mom, while another showed him beaming alongside his dad. The quarterback was then seen sitting on a sofa next to his older brother, Luke.

The two brothers were also pictured building a unicorn toy for one of Luke’s children. The timing of Aaron’s reconciliation with members of his family is unclear.

A source previously told PEOPLE that their feud stemmed from a lifelong sibling rivalry, which came to a head after a “blow-up” between the brothers caused their parents to get “in the middle of it.”

“[They] have always been competitive, and they’re always trying to one-up each other,” said the source. “It’s been that way since they were kids. They got older, and the stakes got higher.”

Tensions in the Rodgers household first became public in 2016, when Jordan opened up to Fletcher about Aaron being estranged from the rest of the family.

“It’s just the way he’s chosen to do life,” Jordan explained on The Bachelorette. “I chose to stay close with my family and my parents and my brother [Luke].”

During a hometown date, Fletcher met Jordan’s family for dinner, but Aaron and his girlfriend at the time, Olivia Munn, were not there. Their absence was marked by two empty chairs at the dinner table.

Aaron claimed he was never invited to the dinner and spoke about it in his Netflix show, Aaron Rodgers: Enigma.

“I was quiet about it because I thought the best way to do it was don’t talk about it publicly,” he said. “And what did they do? They go on a bulls--- show and leave two empty chairs. They all agreed, like, this was a good thing to do, to leave two empty chairs at a stupid dating show ... But like, a dinner that was during the [NFL] season, that I was never asked to go to, not that I would’ve gone.”

His father, Ed, revealed to The New York Times in 2017 that Aaron had not spoken to his family since the end of 2014.

Tensions continued into 2018, when Jordan posted on Instagram to acknowledge National Sibling Day, but did not include Aaron.

In November of that year, Aaron revealed on social media that he was donating $1 million to those impacted by the wildfires in his home state of California, but Jordan responded and accused his brother of not reaching out to his own family as the fires began to spread.

“When your own Mom is home alone during the fires, car packed ready to evacuate, & you miss the fundamental first step of compassion; calling your parents to make sure they are safe ... Everything else just feels like an act,” he wrote on X.

Aaron also made comments denouncing his Christian upbringing on his then-girlfriend, Danica Patrick’s Pretty Intense podcast in January 2020, which left his immediate family “dismayed,” a source told PEOPLE.

“I don’t know how you can believe in a God who wants to condemn most of the planet to a fiery hell,” he said on the podcast.

In January 2022, a source told PEOPLE that Jordan and Aaron had “started talking a little bit.” However, Aaron was noticeably absent from Jordan’s wedding to Fletcher that same year.

Aaron was also not pictured at Luke’s nuptials in 2019.
