Bus in Thruway rollover was traveling from Schenectady to NYC, State Police say

A passenger bus that rolled over on the New York State Thruway Tuesday was going from Schenectady to New York City.

State Police say about 23 people were on board the bus when it rolled over near mile marker 69.5 on the Thruway around 9:20 a.m. Tuesday.

Ten passengers were taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The uninjured passengers were transported by bus to a reunification center established by the Ulster County Office of Emergency Management.

Fire crews, EMS and Thruway Traffic Safety also responded to the scene. The left lane southbound and the left lane northbound were blocked.

The bus is a Wanda Coach bus. According to the website, it provides trips to New York State from multiple cities across the country.

The driver was identified as Zhangrong Wang, 44, of Woodside. State Police say he showed no signs of impairment. No tickets have been issued.

There were lane closures in the area for several hours. State Police say all lanes are back open.

The investigation continues.
