A behind-the-scenes discussion from WWE: Unreal Season 3 has revealed that WWE’s creative team had differing opinions on when two of NXT’s biggest stars should make the jump to the main roster.
The conversation centered on Oba Femi and Trick Williams, whose eventual promotions have since become major success stories.

Bruce Prichard and Triple H debated Oba Femi and Trick Williams’ call-ups
During a WWE creative meeting featured in the Netflix series, Bruce Prichard urged patience when discussing the promotion of NXT talent. He warned fans that they shouldn’t expect instant polish from every call-up.
“We have to be patient too, as far as when they come up. They’re not going to be f**king ready when they come up.”
Prichard also acknowledged that waiting for complete readiness isn’t always realistic, suggesting WWE should take chances rather than delaying talent indefinitely.
“NXT - we’ve gotta look at our resources there, pull some people up that may not be ready, get them up here, get them started, break some f**king eggs, and let’s figure it out.”
Triple H then turned the conversation toward Oba Femi, admitting there was only one way to find out how the powerhouse would perform on the main roster.
“There’s a part of me that thinks you do something with Oba here, then he debuts big in the Rumble, and we just get him cooking. He’s a sponge. Great attitude. To make him a main-event, box-office attraction, he needs to be a bad motherf****r.”
The WWE Chief Content Officer also compared Femi to “the can’t-miss quarterback coming out of the system,” expressing confidence in his long-term potential.
Triple H shared a similar view on Trick Williams, arguing that NXT had little left to offer him.
“He’s done everything he can possibly do in NXT. He’s not gonna get any better down there. If anything, he might regress. He needs to come up here and work with people who have more experience. I think we’ve gotta pull the trigger on somebody, and why not try it with him?”
Looking back, the discussion carries extra weight. Williams went on to capture the United States Championship, while Femi quickly entered a marquee rivalry with Brock Lesnar. Sometimes, the biggest leap isn’t from NXT to RAW or SmackDown - it’s taking the creative gamble before the bell even rings.
