The brother of NFL star and former Atlanta Falcons player Calais Campbell appeared in court Tuesday morning for a bond hearing.

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — The brother of NFL star and former Atlanta Falcons player Calais Campbell appeared in court for a bond hearing Tuesday morning in connection to the death of his mother.

Ciarre Bryce Campbell, 41, is charged with murder, aggravated assault and possession of a knife during the commission of a felony, according to Atlanta police.

The judge did not set a bond.

During the hearing, Ciarre Campbell’s attorney, Jay Abt, told the judge he was going to withdraw his motion and asked to be excused. Ciarre then left the courtroom.

On June 30, police were called to a Buckhead townhome at the Brownstones at Habersham off Roswell Road. Inside, officers found 71-year-old Nateal Campbell with several cuts to her neck. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police said there have been previous calls to the home, including one in April for possible arson and a mental health episode regarding Ciarre Bryce Campbell. In total, APD responded to the home 10 times year-to-date. Three were for a “demented person,” a fight, person injured and welfare checks.
