A 24-year-old man was arrested Tuesday on a murder charge in connection with a fatal shooting that happened in Boston over the July 4 holiday weekend, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday.
Boston resident Catrelle Davis pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the death of 24-year-old Travis Deonard Washington in Dorchester District Court, according to court records.
Officers found Washington suffering from a gunshot wound near 500 Blue Hill Ave. in Dorchester around 12:40 a.m. on July 5, according to Boston police. Shortly after, officers found two other people with gunshot wounds nearby.
All three victims were taken to hospitals, where Washington was declared dead, police said. The other two victims’ injuries were not life-threatening. A fourth person who had been shot later checked themselves into a hospital.
Washington was standing with a group of people who were celebrating Independence Day when he was shot, prosecutors said.
During Davis’s arraignment, the judge ordered him held without bail. He is set to return to court on Sept. 22 for a pre-trial conference.
