Behind the scenes of an anti-doping test

At the end of each Tour de France stage, the ITA (International Testing Agency) conducts eight urine tests: the day’s winner, the yellow jersey and six other riders. We were able to see behind the scenes of these tests.

It’s a big gray truck, with no markings at all, that sits every day near the finish line. The riders know this truck well: it belongs to the ITA (International Testing Agency), the agency tasked since 2021 by the UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) with carrying out anti-doping urine tests at the finish of each Tour de France stage. The day’s winner and the yellow jersey are systematically tested, as well as six other riders, selected by the UCI bureau.
