Beatriz Hatz and Gabriel Vasconcelos hit it off when they coupled up on Love Island USA, and she’s returned to our screens thanks to a new interview with Jenna and Sheinelle on the TODAY show.
Though she felt some type of way about Gabriel moving on with Jen Terry after her emotional exit from the Villa, Bea opened up about their connection and where they currently stand in the aftermath of the season.
When asked whether she felt love with Gabriel, the Paralympian admitted, “I don’t know if it was, like, love connection…because love is such a strong word.” However, she added that she did feel a spark with Gabriel because of his personality and their shared Latine heritage.
“I love the fact that we could both speak Spanish. I think there’s just something so intimate about speaking another language with somebody that, you know, not everyone else around you can speak,” she explained, adding, “And I just feel so comfortable, so at home. [He’s] somebody that I was able to share my culture with, even though he’s Brazilian and my family is Mexican. There’s a lot of similarities, and that was like having a little piece of home, in a way.”
Elsewhere during the interview, Bea talked about her time on the Peacock reality series and what it was really like in the Villa. “We really don’t know what we’re doing that day or what’s happening. It really was like being part of a social experiment,” she shared.
Bea also confirmed that there’s no bad blood between her and Jen after Gabriel coupled up with her, saying, “I love Jen. I love Jen, down bad.”
She continued, “It felt like…obviously, we’re in the Villa, so I get it. You’re recoupled already, so the same night, you do have to, like, share that bed and all that.”
Well, looks like Bea, Gabe, and Jen are all still cool with each other…for now. We’ll have to see how everything pans out during the Love Island USA season 8 reunion, which hits Peacock on August 31.
