Luke Brumer Makes a Damning Statement About Quitting Below Deck Mediterranean

Luke Brumer talked to Captain Sandy Yawn about leaving Below Deck Mediterranean after his drama with Nathan Gallagher.

Already in danger of being fired, Luke Brumer decided his best course of action on Below Deck Mediterranean Season 11 might be to quit his job altogether.

After Nathan Gallagher informed Captain Sandy Yawn in Episode 7 (streaming on Peacock beginning July 21) that Luke had "ejaculated on [his] sheets and never changed them," the deckhand's life on M/Y Akira One had been "awkward as hell," as he put it (more on that below).

As the latest matchmaking charter continued, Luke asked Captain Sandy if he could speak to her privately on the bridge. "I feel like me being on the team right now is causing a bit of disruption, and it's breaking the flow," he told her. "And I just want to remove myself from the equation. I think the best thing for me is to leave."

That's when a "To Be Continued" graphic appeared onscreen, so you'll have to tune in when Episode 8 airs on July 27 at 8 p.m. ET to find out if Luke really quit Below Deck Med.

Nathan confronted and threatened to fire Luke just prior to the charter guests' arrivals, meaning they had to immediately get back to work amid lingering tension. "My bosun can't stand the sight of me," Luke stated in a confessional. "Everything on the boat feels like it's just spiraling and spiraling and spiraling."

Indeed, Nathan admitted to a producer that he couldn't "even look at" Luke anymore. After Luke, for his part, remarked on the energy shift to a producer, he explained to Joy Lefaucheur, "It's getting [to be] a bit much for me. Like, I'm getting punished by a lot of people. It's getting heavy."

Luke eventually attempted to address the issue with Nathan again in their cabin, but the latter insisted that he needed to take shower instead. When the deckhand tried to broach the subject again later on, Nathan accused him of not taking "ownership" of the "pretty f--king dirty" thing that he'd done. In particular, Nathan was in disbelief that Luke had allowed him to sleep on the soiled sheets for three days, and even then, he had to hear about what happened from someone else.

Afterward, Luke muttered to himself, "I'd rather be f--king fired than work with a bosun that thinks I'm a piece of s--t." In a producer interview, he continued, "I've lost Nathan's trust and respect. I can see it in his eyes. He's not letting this one go."

Prior to talking to Captain Sandy, Luke added, "Every centimeter of space that I share with Nathan does feel awkward as hell. ... If Nathan is still this ferocious and visceral with me a day-and-a-half afterwards, after 100 apologies have been said, can the charter season even go back to normal, even remotely, to what it was before, after all of this? And I don't think so."

Once Nathan brought the issue to a stunned Captain Sandy's attention, she said, "That's crossing the line. There should be ramifications for that behavior." Sandy promised to handle the situation, and shortly afterward, she texted a yacht staffing rep to inquire about any available deckhands. In the interim, she summoned Luke to the bridge and informed him that she had to write a report about what he'd done to Nathan.

"What Luke did is potentially a fireable offense," Captain Sandy explained in a confessional. "It's unprecedented, so I'm gonna give it some thought and then I'll make my decision on how to handle this after this charter. But in the meantime, because of the severity of the situation, I need to write this report. It's official. That's something that other captains will see. And I hope Luke takes away from this ... have consideration for your bunkmate."

After telling Sandy that he understood her position, an emotional Luke opened up to a producer, saying, "I'm devastated. My career means so much to me. I'm so scared that this could be the end of it for me. ... I've hurt people and I wasn't a man of integrity. And I feel like I just let everything down."

Jack Quaid breaks down that 'devastating' fifth episode of 'My Adventures with Superman': 'He's out of his depth'

A lot of actors have taken on the iconic mantle of Superman since the Jerry Siegel/Joe Shuster character's 1938 debut: Christopher Reeve, Henry Cavill, Kirk Alyn, George Reeves, Tom Welling and, most recently, David Corenswet, just to name a few. Jack Quaid never thought he'd be lucky enough to count himself among that number. "I know what I look like," he told TheWrap. "I just never thought I screamed 'Superman,' but then I got this audition...
