Batman has had one heck of a ride when it comes to video games. His very first entry was released on the Amstrad PCW in 1986, and since then, he's made appearances on every console generation. Many fans know his iconic turn in 1989's Batman NES (with the iconic purple sprite), but after that he's come back through movie and video game tie-ins, as well as unique adventures of his own.
The Arkham trilogy made a huge impact on Batman's foray into gaming, setting the gold standard for stealth/action gameplay for the Caped Crusader, and the series even continues today in VR form. Like Spider-Man, Batman will remain a fixture in gaming for the foreseeable future.

Officially unveiled this week from DC is DCKO, a new superhero-focused fighting game that's slated for mobile devices this year. As a mobile fighter, it will have real-time PVP battling, as well as leaderboards. PVE modes are included, as well as story challenges and other modes that are yet to be announced. Customization is in, which will no doubt be tied to the game's monetization system on mobile.
"DC Legends" are going to be duking it out, and here is everyone we have confirmed so far:

Batman has had a fascinating run in gaming. I grew up on countless action games featuring the character, but they rarely focused on stealth. Many of them, especially the tie-ins for the Animated Series or feature films (even Batman Forever) had Batman beating up goons, but rarely solving puzzles or outwitting opponents (with a few exceptions, like The Riddler level in Batman: The Animated Series SNES).
The Arkham series came along and changed that, fundamentally adding more potential to the character's playable adventures. Suddenly stealth was a viable option, but if you really wanted to beat up 10 goons at once, you could.
Batman is a very complex and fun character to follow, even if you aren't a fan. Creators are always finding new ways to reinvent him for new audiences, and his popularity has rarely waned in decades.
