'Avengers: Doomsday' Trailer Debut Officially Shatters a Disney Record

The highly anticipated trailer set the record for the biggest Disney trailer ever.

After months of anticipation, Marvel Studios released the first full trailer forAvengers: Doomsdaythis week. The trailer not only showcased various crossovers among heroes, but also provided the first full look at Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. Even though the trailer sparked a great deal of online conversation, ranging from excitement for the epic team-up to criticism of the MCU in recent years, it appears all eyes were on the trailer.

According to Variety, the Doomsday trailer garnered 503 million views in one day. It marked the biggest debut for a trailer in Disney's history, beating the record previously set by Deadpool & Wolverine's Super Bowl spot, which reached 365 million views in 2024. Avengers: Doomsday is the second-biggest trailer launch in history, behind Sony Pictures' Spider-Man: Brand New Day, with 719 million views.

The trailer launch also coincided with the first wave of tickets, branded with the "Infinity Vision" label, going on sale. Variety reports the movie has generated $16.5 million in advance ticket sales after the first day of availability. The number is even more impressive, considering tickets were available only in premium formats and only at 1,000 domestic theaters. An industry source told Variety that premium formats on Thursday, Dec. 17 and Friday, Dec. 18 are already largely sold out. More premium showtimes, along with standard screenings, will be added at an unknown date.

With Marvel Studios' two 2026 releases becoming the two most-viewed trailers of all time, it certainly shows there is still an appetite among audiences for superheroes, particularly MCU movies. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is currently on track to become the biggest opening weekend of 2026 so far, with estimates ranging from $180 million to $228 million. It will be curious if Doomsday can open as high, or if the competition from Dune: Part Three opening on the same day will eat into the film's opening weekend.

The Avengers: Doomsday trailer debuted days before San Diego Comic-Con. With the Marvel Studios panel scheduled for 5:30 p.m. PT on Saturday, Jul. 25, the studio is likely to show exclusive scenes for both Brand New Day and Doomsday. There are also rumors that Marvel Studios might announce its cast for the upcoming X-Men reboot or reveal previously unannounced roles in Avengers: Doomsday. Now that the trailer is available to the general audience, Marvel Studios will hopefully have something big for the Hall H audience.

Nissan's biggest SUVs have been wearing the wrong weight label since 2011, and nobody noticed

Nissan just told federal regulators that 168,149 of its biggest SUVs have been carrying the wrong number on a federally required sticker, in some cases since 2011. No axle snapped. No brake failed. Nothing underneath these trucks is actually broken. The entire fix is a new label, and Nissan is mailing it to owners in an envelope. That combination, a recall this large with a remedy this small, is exactly why it's worth slowing down and reading...
