At long last, the trailer for Avengers: Doomsday has arrived online. Essentially the same one shown at CinemaCon in April 2026, the first full trailer for Avengers: Doomsday sees various heroes from across Marvel's multiverse uniting to stop the threat posed by Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr. The trailer arrived in time for the first tickets to go on sale and is ahead of San Diego Comic-Con, where Marvel Studios is expected to hold a big presentation.
Even though there is plenty of coverage based on the CinemaCon trailer description, with the footage now public, there are some big reveals that will likely take general audiences by surprise. Marvel Studios has sprinkled in enough clues and information to tease out the plot, while keeping plenty of mysteries to speculate over before the movie's December release. From new costumes to heroes fighting one another and the first good look at the main villain, these are the biggest reveals and Easter Eggs from the Avengers: Doomsday trailer.

Sue Storm is Holding Up the Ocean
Avengers: Doomsday continues Marvel's trend of showcasing Sue Storm / Invisible Woman as one of the most powerful figures in the Marvel Universe. After fending off the might of Galactus in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, she now appears to be using her force fields to hold up the ocean with her force field to allow for a meeting between the various Marvel heroes, Wakanda, and the Talokan.
This certainly puts into context the fourth Avengers: Doomsday teaser, as Namor's kingdom being exposed to the surface is not them being transported to the Void like many believed. If Sue Storm can hold up the walls of an ocean like that while also taking part in diplomatic meetings, she clearly has extreme discipline and focus on her abilities.
Namor's New Look
The end-credits scene of Thunderbolts* showed the first looks at the uniforms the New Avengers would wear, and now the Avengers: Doomsday trailer spotlights new looks for many of the characters. The Fantastic Four have stylish jackets over their uniforms, while the X-Men wear comic-accurate costumes. The biggest reveal, though, might be Namor's new look. Namor is seen wearing a black bodysuit reminiscent of his moisture suit from the comics.
Debuting in The Sub-Mariner #67 in 1973, the moisture suit is designed to deliver water to Namor's pores during extended periods on the surface so he does not become dehydrated. After his battle with Shuri in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, where she exploited this weakness, Namor has now come prepared when Sue Storm drains the ocean. The moisture suit for Avengers: Doomsday, with blue accent scales, calls to mind the outfit Namor wore in Marvel Comics during the mid-2000s and early 2010s, such as in New Avengers, which played a key role in setting up Secret Wars.
Thor Goes for the Head (& Fails)
After failing to kill Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, Thor took the note of "going for the head." Not only did he cut off Thanos' head at the beginning of Avengers: Endgame, but in the fight with the Thanos variant in the climax, he tried to "kill him properly." Thor isn't looking to make the same mistake with Doctor Doom as he swings Stormbreaker right for the villain's face. Sadly, Doom is more powerful than Thor suspects and blocks the attack.
The X-Men Fight For Their Lives
The trailer showcases The Avengers, New Avengers, and Fantastic Four arriving at Xavier's Mansion in their reality (likely Earth 10005) and engaging in combat with the X-Men. So far, the fight features Shang-Chi vs. Gambit and Yelena Belova vs. Mystique. Alan Cumming has already revealed his character Nightcrawler will fight Mister Fantastic, who is present in the Xavier Mansion shots in the trailer.
While it appears three of the teams in the movie meet on neutral terms, the X-Men will be more combative, possibly hinting that they have spent the past few years dealing with multiversal threats. The fact that the X-Mansion appears to be in ruins when the Avengers and Fantastic Four arrive suggests these are the only remaining X-Men left.
Is Loki Visiting Steve Rogers?
One brief shot in the trailer shows Loki wearing his TVA uniform and jacket from his hit Disney+ series, in what appears to be a house. While the shot is brief, the curtains in the background can't help but call to mind the house that Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter were seen dancing in at the end of Avengers: Endgame. Steve Rogers' presence in this universe has seemingly created a fractured timeline, and Loki is visiting his former foe.
Does this take place during Loki Season 1? Or during the Season 2 finale where they say Loki spends centuries trying to break the loop created by He Who Remains? The TVA uniform might suggest Loki has a part in the next big reveal.
Has Steve Rogers Been Living on Earth 828 This Whole Time?
Since news broke that Chris Evans would return as Steve Rogers, a popular fan theory has been that Steve Rogers has been living on Earth 828, home of The Fantastic Four. The brief shot of a father and son watching The Fantastic Four cartoon in First Steps has led many to speculate that Steve Rogers and his son were revealed in the first Avengers: Doomsday teaser. With Thor meeting Steve Rogers on The Fantastic Four's ship, it seems he has arrived with them, lending credence to the theory.
Did the Fantastic Four universe's retro-futurism begin when Steve Rogers arrived? Or did Loki, during his time at the TVA, move Steve Rogers and his family into this new reality? This could possibly explain why the farmhouse shown in the December teaser is so different from what was seen in Avengers: Endgame.
Robert Downey Jr.'s Accent as Doctor Doom
The Avengers: Doomsday trailer arrived seven days shy of the two-year anniversary of when Robert Downey Jr. was announced to be playing Doctor Doom. At long last, Marvel Studios reveals Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom in action. Despite the first look at the costume having been spoiled by promotional material, this is easily the best Doctor Doom has ever appeared on screen.
The trailer also offers the first reveal of what Doom will sound like. Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom has a vague Eastern European accent, evoking Victor Von Doom's background in the comics as the ruler of the fictional nation of Latveria. This will certainly resurface the discussion of Downey Jr.'s casting as whitewashing Doctor Doom, a character who is portrayed as Romani in the comics. However, this is the first time a Marvel adaptation has attempted to give Doctor Doom an accent of any kind.
Marvel Keeps Its 2026 Release Date
Since Avengers: Doomsday was delayed from May 1 to December 18, 2026, there has been a question of whether Dune: Part Three or Avengers: Doomsday would move. Even with the actors of both films embracing the "Dunesday" meme, the idea of releasing two major blockbusters targeting similar demographics seemed like a bad call for both movies. With Dune: Part Three having the first release date and locked in IMAX screens for three weeks, the impetus was on Avengers: Doomsday to move.
Yet Marvel Studios is sticking to its guns, as the trailer firmly plants December 18, 2026, as its release date. Given that December 18 saw the release of both Avatar and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, it is clear why Disney and Marvel Studios want to keep that release date. It certainly is going to be a busy holiday season at the box office, one where both Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three have a chance to thrive.
