American Pickers star Mike Wolfe suffered a devastating loss in a “tragic accident” involving his dog, Francie Joe.
On Wednesday, July 22, the History Channel star, 61, took to Instagram to announce the sad news.
“In a tragic accident, one I feel very much responsible for, I lost my Francie Joe,” Wolfe revealed. “My heart is shattered in a thousand pieces. I never got to say goodbye or comfort her when she needed me most.”
He continued, “She listened to me when she knew I was wrong. She had patience for me when I didn’t deserve it. She didn’t just love me for who I was in the moment… She could see all of my pain and joy from my past to my present. She came into my life when I was struggling. We traveled and explored this beautiful country of ours together. Her big brown eyes loving so many hearts and spreading so much joy.”
Additionally, Wolfe described his pet as “everything I ever dreamed of in a dog.” He concluded, “And now she’s gone, pulled from this world too soon. For days now I’ve tried to make sense of it all. I’ve realized that I can’t; all I can do is remember what she taught me and live my life the way she would be proud of me.”
In the comments, Wolfe’s American Pickers costar, Danielle Colby, shared a message of support.
“I love you brother,” she wrote. “I will miss Francie so much. You were her guiding light and she yours. You will meet again in another timeline, you will always meet again. Your bond was too strong not to. My heart is with you.”
Another Instagram user shared, “So sorry for your loss, Mike! You gave her the best home possible. I will hug my dog a little longer today in remembrance of your sweet dog.”
Someone else echoed, “Sending thoughts & prayers ur way, my friend! I can’t imagine the pain u feel right now.”
A different follower commented, “Awe, Mike, so sorry, brother! Sending you strength and a prayer for her.”
Meanwhile, yet another Instagram user wrote, “Oh no!! I am so sorry! Heartbreaking…sending you strength and prayers.”
