Time is flying by, and fall camp is right around the corner. Florida State is looking to have a better campaign in 2026, and receiver Duce Robinson will play a big role in that.
He's entering his second season with the Seminoles, and even though he was highly effective in 2025, all the signs are pointing to him being even better in 2026.
Trevor Sikkema and Connor Rogers of the NFL Stock Exchange Podcast released their 2027 summer scouting wide receiver rankings. Rogers had Robinson ranked 12th and pointed out that Robinson has a great feel for zone coverage and knows how to attack defenses.
Rogers also pointed out his physicality to run through the first defender on screen plays and knows when to use his size to win specific matchups.
While those are some strengths that work in his favor, there will be more talent around him on offense that should make his life easier, including a quarterback who could help boost his draft stock ahead of the loaded 2027 NFL Draft.
Duce Robinson has everything he needs to thrive at Florida State now
John Evans of 247Noles pointed out some fellow receivers on offense who could have an impact. Receiver Jasen Lopez, who is Mike Norvell's second-highest-rated commit, is set to have a role for this team. Lopez was a four-star and No. 229 nationally ranked player per 247Sports. Devin Carter is another four-star receiver in the fold.
Then add in Micahi Danzy, who is a deep threat, standing at 6-foot-1. He averaged 21.1 yards per reception last year.
Multiple pass catchers will take some attention away from Robinson, and that will help create more favorable matchups.
Another factor that should benefit Robinson is the Seminoles going from Tommy Castellanos to Ashton Daniels as their quarterback. Fansided's Josh Yourish broke down the film on Daniels and highlighted some things that he does well.
With Castellanos behind center in 2025, the Seminoles went away from in-breaking routes due to his inability to consistently see over the middle of the field since he stood at 5-foot-10. Considering that Daniels stands at 6-foot-2, those concerns are out the window.
Daniels will stand tall in the pocket and will take chances over the middle. That will be an asset for Robinson, who is 6-foot-6 and can use his size to box out defenders there. Last season, Robinson only saw 30 targets between the numbers. That number should increase, giving him more chances.
It's also worth mentioning that one of Daniels' strengths is keeping his eyes downfield. That will allow Robinson to get some opportunities downfield and bring down some 50/50 passes.
"When he’s flushed from the pocket, Daniels will keep his eyes downfield and look to create a play with his arm," Yourish wrote.
For a big-body receiver like Robinson, that's exactly what you want to hear. In 2025, he finished with 56 catches for 1,081 receiving yards and six touchdowns. Robinson was easily their No. 1 receiver, and that will be the case again this fall.
With more playmakers around and a quarterback whose strengths benefit Robinson, he should be in line for an even better campaign in 2026.
