LEGO has revealed multiple new sets based on the Pokemon franchise, which will be released later this year. Pokemon building sets have been offered for several years, but LEGO obtained the rights at the start of 2026. Only a handful of Pokemon sets have been released by the company so far, but LEGO has plans to release a lot more of them before the end of 2026.
The first Pokemon sets released by LEGO focused on some of the franchise's most popular characters. Pokemon introduced in Kanto from the original Game Boy games were featured in the earliest sets, but LEGO plans to focus on other regions from the series throughout 2026.

Five new Pokemon LEGO sets have been announced, which will be released over the coming months. On August 1, sets based on Arcanine, Munchlax, and Rayquaza will be released at various retailers. Arcanine and Munchlax are similar to the previously released Eevee set, but the Rayquaza set will be accompanied by the first official Pokemon Minifigure. Zinnia will be offered in the set with Rayquaza, and she'll also come with an Ultra Ball. The Draconid Trainer from Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire might seem like an unusual choice for a Minifigure, but she makes sense given her close association with Rayquaza.
Additional LEGO Pokemon Minifigures leaked earlier this year, and the company has now revealed how to get some of the franchise's most beloved characters. Releasing on October 1, the Iconic Trainer Moments Poke Ball is a 2,386-piece set that opens up to feature Professor Oak's lab. Several details from the Game Boy games can be seen in the set, including a trio of Poke Balls seemingly meant to represent Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. The set will include Minifigures of Red and Professor Oak, as well as a Picnicker. It will also include Minifigures of Pikachu and Eevee. That same daty, an upscaled version of that Minifigure of Red will also be offered for $79.99. A keychain version of the Red Minifigure will be sold separately for $5.99, but it does not currently have a release date.
Arcanine, Munchlax, and Rayquaza join several other LEGO Pokemon sets coming out in August. The first Pokemon sets with LEGO Smart Bricks arrive that same day, which means fans planning to catch them all might have to spend quite a few dollars to do so. This year is already proving pretty expensive for Pokemon fans thanks to a lot of merchandise timed for the franchise's 30th anniversary, and it seems things aren't slowing down.
Now that LEGO is officially starting to make Pokemon Minifigures based on trainers from the franchise, it will be interesting to see who else gets a similar treatment. LEGO has no shortage of characters to choose from, including old favorites like Brock, Misty, and Giovanni, or more recent ones like Larry and Arven. This could be just the tip of the iceberg, and Pokemon fans will no doubt have strong opinions on which ones should be next out of the gate.
