A suburb north of Denver may become home to a new location of a popular grocery chain that announced expansion plans earlier this year.
Pre-application materials submitted to the city of Thornton on behalf of Aldi Real Estate Inc., proposes the construction of a 20,436-square-foot grocery store at the intersection of East 97th Avenue and Grant Street in Thornton.
“The proposed development consists of an ALDI grocery store with beer and wine sales on an approximately 2.85-acre site,” states a pre-application cover letter submitted to the city by Atwell LLC, which represents Aldi.
Plans call for 87 standard parking spaces and four accessible parking spaces, the letter states.
Documents submitted to the city list two parcel numbers at 550 E. 97th Ave. and 9650 Grant St., according to property records. There appear to be no buildings on the sites.
The land sits just east of Interstate 25. There’s a Sam’s Club across the street from the proposed Aldi location and a Golden Corral nearby.
