AJ Styles opens up about possibly having one more match after his WWE retirement.
Wrestling legend and former two-time WWE Champion AJ Styles retired from in-ring competition after losing his match against GUNTHER at Royal Rumble 2026. Since then, he has been inducted into the company’s Hall of Fame and has been working as a talent scout backstage.
Styles recently appeared on the INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet podcast and shared his thoughts about potentially having one more match after his retirement. He noted that usually retired WWE wrestlers are granted one comeback match. While he noted that he’s not guaranteeing a one-off return, he didn’t dismiss the idea and responded with the classic ‘never say never.’
"That's right, but I have said this before, and I'll say it again. Usually we're granted one comeback for one match. I'm not saying it's gonna happen. I'm just saying usually it's granted. Never say never," Styles said.
AJ Styles teased returning to the ring to team with his son
Speaking on the What’s Your Story? with Stephanie McMahon podcast, AJ Styles noted that it would be hard to turn down an opportunity to tag with his son Avery, who recently made his in-ring debut, and shared that his daughter is also interested in wrestling.
"Well, I mean, what if my son wrestles? Well, the opportunity to tag with him once. And you never know. So, there'll be a time when the gloves will never go back on or maybe now but we'll see," Styles said.
"And then who knows if my daughter? My third son has nothing to do with anything sports whatsoever. He doesn't care about it. "Styles added, "But, you know, it would surprise me if my daughter got into it. She'd be like the Rey Mysterio of the women's. Oh yeah. She's tiny. She's small. But, you know, we'll see."
