Ronda adopted the “Rowdy” nickname with Piper’s personal blessing. She honored Piper during both her MMA and WWE runs. She also wore his jacket during her debut at the 2018 WWE Royal Rumble.

Speaking with Monte & The Pharaoh, Teal Piper discussed Rousey wearing her father’s famous look. She admitted she never expected it to happen. “I didn’t see it coming. That was when she came out into wrestling. That was right before I had gotten into the industry myself. I will just leave it at this. I’m Rowdy by blood. You know what I mean? As far as I’m concerned, I have a point to prove, and that’s what I’m going to do.”
She was asked about WrestleMania 35 and a scene from a documentary where Rousey was seen hugging Tel’s mother. He said it looked like Tel didn’t look very happy at that moment. She said, “Ronda’s always been nice to me, although sometimes I disagree with her opinions on wrestling. But at the end of the day, I think that moment kind of lit a fire under my ass.”
