General Hospital’s Rory Gibson was so excited to marry longtime love Alicia Ruelas that he planned two different wedding celebrations in two different states. Gibson and Ruelas first said ‘I do’ in Hawaii on July 11 and then took things home to Los Angeles, where they enjoyed a spectacular wedding reception five days later. As the happy couple told People, it was a “long time coming.”
Rory Gibson’s a Married Man
Gibson, 31, and Ruelas, 30, met when they were just teens still in high school and have been together ever since. In 2022, Gibson, who played Noah Newman on The Young and the Restless at the time, proposed in Hawaii, with fashion model Ruelas announcing their engagement on Instagram, writing, “AHHHH! I’m going to be future Mrs. Gibson😭🤍💍 I’m in shock!!!”
Four years later, the couple finally tied the knot in a perfect oceanfront ceremony on Mele Makani on Kaui, with about 25 guests in attendance. According to People, they later held a small reception at the Lava Lava Beach Club, before returning home for a bigger reception at El Cid in L.A.
“We envisioned having an amazing vacation with our closest family and friends to celebrate our love in Hawaii, then coming back to L.A. and having a big fun celebration with our loved ones,” Gibson said.
After the ceremony, Ruelas took to her Instagram stories and announced the nuptials, per Soap Opera Digest. Gibson’s wedding band was even designed by his GH co-star, Ryan Paevey (Cassius Faison), who explained the process in this video. Their celebration at El Cid included 150 guests, as well as a wedding cake with models of their dogs as the toppers.
Although the happy couple told People that they plan to expand their family with children someday down the line, for now they plan to enjoy the newlywed life.
“We’ve been together so long now, we don’t imagine much will change,” they said. “So we’re just excited to keep on living the wonderful life we’re so blessed to have.”
