Ever since LeBron James announced that he wouldn’t return to the Los Angeles Lakers, the Miami Heat emerged as one of the favorites to land the NBA legend.
Others, including the Golden State Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers and the Cleveland Cavaliers – another former James team – are finalists as the NBA world still awaits the decision.
On Wednesday, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter hopped on the 97.5 The Fanatic show, and he revealed a text from June 30 that signals James could be going to Miami.
“Had a text that said just be ready for LeBron to go to Miami. I can read you the exact text,” Schefter said. “‘I’m hearing Bron is coming to the Miami Heat, just want to give you a heads up. You may want to check it out.'”
Rumors swirled even more on Tuesday when the Heat accidentally posted that they have a July 27 “LeBron James Introductory Press Conference” scheduled on their YouTube page.
Although the post was deleted, it was very specific, and one Heat spokesperson said there was no validity.
James spent four seasons with the Heat, winning the first two of his four NBA titles before going back to Cleveland and then later landing in LA in a massive free agency move.
Miami acquired Giannis Antetokounmpo in a massive blockbuster trade with the Milwaukee Bucks, and the thought of a James, Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo Big 3 in South Beach would make things very interesting in the Eastern Conference.
