Key Points

  • Adam Driver has made a “tradition” of turning down Marvel film roles, Kevin Feige says.
  • The actor has apparently been in talks for a few roles.
  • Driver is known to be selective with his film choices.

Adam Driver wants to be in a Marvel movie... maybe.

During a recent chat with Happy Sad Confused’s Josh Horowitz, Kevin Feige, the president and executive producer of Marvel Studios, shared that Driver has been approached for multiple films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He just hasn’t said “yes” to any offers.

“Many, many, many, many [conversations],” Feige said of Driver. “It’s no secret we’d like to get [him on board], but it’s a tradition to Zoom with him and then he passes. That’s a long-lived tradition.”

Feige said Driver “couldn’t be more cordial” despite always refusing to take a job. “He’s usually up-front about how he’s feeling,” Feige added.

Entertainment Weekly has reached out to Driver for further comment on these reported casting offers.

Driver was rumored to be up for X-Men roles like Magneto or Mister Sinister. He previously starred as Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, and is known to be selective with his film roles, especially when it comes to blockbuster franchises.

The Oscar nominee has also said he had to be convinced to accept his role on Girls because he “didn’t understand it.”

“I was doing a lot of theater at the time and I didn’t really watch a lot of TV shows, which I hope doesn’t sound like elitist, but I wasn’t interested. And my agent convinced me to go in and read for Girls. And I met Lena [Dunham] and got the job. And it changed the course of my life,” Driver told ScreenRant in 2021.

Feige also discussed other A-listers possibly being in Marvel flicks, including Ryan Gosling’s expressed desire to be Ghost Rider and Cynthia Erivo’s interest in Storm. But will those prospects become possibilities?

“You never know what the future may bring, both very good actors and great characters,” Feige teased.

He is currently promoting Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which hits theaters July 31.
