Today, the DMV will be waiting for a front to move across the entire region and help clear our skies of the heat and humidity that has been common lately. While most of us will see much quieter conditions heading into the afternoon, there will still be some scattered storms to impact the area. The best chance for scattered showers and storms is across southern Maryland and toward central Virginia. The rest of the area should stay dry, especially north of DC. Even though storms will be possible, the bulk of the severe weather on Wednesday will remain just south of the DMV.
Drier air will rush in, cool us down, and make us feel a lot more comfortable starting Wednesday night and through the end of the week. Forecasted lows tonight will range from around 50 degrees in the mountains to the mid-60s in and around the Beltway.
Thursday and Friday, as high pressure settles in, the airmass will almost feel fall-like with how crisp it will feel, a very rare thing to have in late July, but we will take it considering all the hot and humid days we have experienced!
Heading into the upcoming weekend, the DMV will start with sunny skies and comfortable temperatures, but temperatures will warm up, and some humidity will return beginning Sunday and carry over into next week. Temperatures will climb into the mid-80s on Saturday, the upper 80s on Sunday, and then the low 90s by Monday. Spotty to isolated showers and storms will return to the mix Sunday into Monday as humidity levels rise to more typical summer levels.
