According to the almanac, Philadelphia sits primarily in the Atlantic Corridor, where the fall is expected to be cooler and drier this year than average.
The almanac predicts temperatures will be about one degree cooler this fall than average, with about 1 less inch of rainfall.
Based on the almanac's weather trend graph, August is predicted to have up to 2 inches less than normal precipitation, and September and October follow the trend for less precipitation and cooler temperatures than average.
When does fall start in Philadelphia?
The astronomical start to fall this year is Sept. 22, and it ends on Dec. 20.
The meteorological start to fall this year is Sept. 1, ending on Nov. 30.
The astronomical cycle is based on solstices and equinoxes, while the meteorological seasons range three months at a time and align with weather patterns.
