Woman moves to Boston to date a Boston man, but gets asked ‘what’s wrong with you‘ by her first date. Then she got personal.

Moving to a brand-new city to find new romantic connections sounds like a charming movie plot. But when creator Steph Taylor (@stephfromjersey) moved to Boston to find love, her first date took a sharp nose-dive before the check even hit the table.

In a candid TikTok video that has reached over 23,000 views, Taylor broke down her hilarious, sixty-minute inaugral dating disaster in her new home. Although it started as a promising vibe, the date quickly degraded into a battle of relationship red flags.

Taylor arrived in Boston eager to meet a local guy

Taylor had only been living in Boston for four days when she decided it was time to step into the local dating pool. Having always held a soft spot for local guys, she enthusiastically booked a date with a Boston man.

The outing started off on solid ground. Sitting across from each other, the conversation was flowing and the energy seemed mutual. That was until her date casually pivoted into territory that probably should have stayed off the table. Yes, her previous relationship history.

Taylor transparently shared her past. She explained that while she had only had one official, long-term boyfriend on paper, she’d navigated her fair share of casual situationships. But her date’s alleged reaction completely derailed the mood.

Looking at her with utter bewilderment, the man bluntly asked, “What’s wrong with you?”

Taylor flipped the script on her date’s own marriage timeline

Stunned by his allegedly unprovoked condescension, Taylor said she wasn’t about to sit quietly and take the insult. So, she claimed she pulled out his own relationship metrics to hold up a mirror.

“Excuse me… What’s wrong with me?” she shot back. Taylor supposedly called him out for pointing fingers when his own track record was far more questionable. According to her, he had spent a full decade with a partner, finally married her, and then ended up in divorce court just twelve months later.

“So, I think the real question here is what’s wrong with you? What did you do? Don’t be asking what’s wrong with me,” she recalled telling him before bringing the hour-long date to an abrupt close.

Why do people judge dating histories on a first date?

It’s an age-old dating app trap: grilling someone about their past relationships before you even know their middle name. But judging a potential partner based on their number of former relationships is an outdated metric.

In modern dating, having fewer “official” exes often means someone has high standards. Or, they avoid rushing into titles that don’t fit. Trying to frame a person’s relationship path as a defect is a classic case of projection that instantly kills any early romantic momentum.

Taylor is keeping her hopes high for date number two in Boston

At the end of the video, Taylor refused to let one arrogant match ruin her perception of her new city. She wrapped up her viral storytime on an optimistic note. Laughing off the allegedly bizarre one-hour encounter, she reassured her followers that date number two was already locked in for the upcoming weekend.

In case you’re also going on a date next weekend, remember to be respectful and match their energy. If you want to ask questions, don’t use their honest answers to put them down later.

Have you ever had a first date make a completely rude comment about your relationship history?

Boxing star Hannah Rapp was killed while biking after boyfriend made perfectly innocent gesture at reckless driver: cops

It’s a gesture that any cyclist has probably made at a car that veered too close — and cops say it cost boxing star Hannah Rapp her life. Rapp, 26, an up-and-coming featherweight fighter, was cycling along a two-lane highway, FM 159, in Brazos County, Texas, on Saturday, when investigators say 31-year-old Charles Medina overtook her and her boyfriend Will Pollalis in his car with just a foot to spare. Pollalis yelled at the driver and raised his...
