JHX Hoops vs. Purple Reign preview

Former Jayhawks Frank Mason III and Mario Chalmers will compete for the JHX Hoops squad coached by Sherron Collins, while the Michael Beasley-led Purple Reign roster will be coached by Lance Harris.

The series opens at Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan on July 21 before moving to Lee Arena in Topeka the following day, with a potential third game returning to Manhattan on July 24 if necessary.

These matchups will utilize the Elam Ending, a format designed to ensure games end with a successful basket rather than late-game fouling by shutting off the game clock in the fourth quarter and establishing a target score.

The winner will be the first team to reach a target score set at eight points above the leading team’s total, a rule that the tournament implemented for all games starting in 2018 to create a more electrifying experience for fans.
