Victim killed in Golden State Blvd. hit-and-run crash identified as Fowler man
The man killed in a hit-and-run crash Monday night has been identified as a Fowler resident. Investigators say he was hit by one or more cars and are exploring potential leads.

CHP investigators say the victim was hit by one or more cars. They are searching for anyone with additional information.

The pedestrian killed in a hit-and-run crash Monday night near Fresno has been identified.

Fresno County Coroner’s Office spokesperson Tony Botti said the victim was Dominic Chavez, 49, of Fowler.

California Highway Patrol officers responded to the incident around 10:20 p.m. Monday. Chavez was struck while on Golden State Boulevard, south of Central Avenue.

Officers say Chavez was walking in the road when he was struck by one or more cars. Evidence at the scene suggested that one of the involved cars may have been a white 2018-2023 Toyota Camry, officers said.

Around 11 p.m., a car fire involving a white 2008 Infiniti G37 was reported near Jensen and Maple avenues. CHP investigators are exploring whether the car was in the hit-and-run.

Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage to find all vehicles and drivers involved in the hit-and-run. Anyone with information can contact Fresno-area CHP at 559-705-2200.
