ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – St. Petersburg police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the 4100 block of 12th Avenue South.
Officers responded to a report of a person shot at 12:34 p.m. Upon arrival, authorities found the victim inside her front-end loader work vehicle.
The victim was a sanitation technician who had worked for the City of St. Petersburg for 12 years.
According to police, the suspect and the victim knew each other. Investigators stated the shooting was not a random act and that there is no active danger to the public.
Police have identified the suspect, who remains at large as of Wednesday afternoon.
The city announced that grief counselors will be made available to assist employees following the incident.
