Heavy thunderstorms dropped nearly 5 inches of rain in parts of the Lower Hudson Valley. See rainfall totals for Westchester, Rockland and Putnam counties.

Strong thunderstorms moved across the Lower Hudson Valley on Tuesday, July 21, bringing torrential rainfall to parts of the region. Some communities recorded nearly 5 inches of rain, according to reports compiled by the National Weather Service.

How much rain fell?

Westchester County saw the highest rainfall totals, with 4.79 inches reported near Tarrytown. Parts of Rockland County received up to 3.70 inches, while rainfall totals in Putnam County generally ranged from about 1 to 2.7 inches.

  • Tarrytown: 4.79 inches
  • Hartsdale: 3.10 inches
  • Pleasantville: 3.09 inches

  • Bronxville: 1.76 inches

What's the forecast for the rest of the week?

A few lingering showers and thunderstorms are possible through the first half of Wednesday, July 22, before skies gradually clear. High temperatures are expected to reach around 83 degrees.

After Wednesday, the forecast calls for a stretch of dry weather through the weekend. Thursday through Sunday are expected to be mostly sunny, with daytime highs in the upper 70s to low 80s.
