County fair season is officially underway in New Jersey, with fairs opening this week in Burlington, Monmouth, Gloucester, Mercer, Morris and Warren counties.
The events feature everything from carnival rides and demolition derbies to livestock shows, live entertainment, hot air balloon launches and traditional fair food. Here’s a look at county fairs scheduled across the state this summer.

Essex County doesn’t host a traditional carnival-style county fair; instead, the Essex County 4-H Fall Family Festival at the Environmental Center serves as the county’s annual 4-H showcase with project exhibits, gardening contests, hands-on activities and a fall harvest theme.
