People are buzzing about the new building going up at Fancher Creek. What is it?
A bank.
And while that may not be the most exciting news for new places to eat, drink or shop, there is a new Chipotle that just started construction directly behind it.
Even more businesses are still coming to the shopping center - and at least one place developers had teased is not coming.
Here’s an updated look at what’s next for the big new center at Clovis and Tulare avenues.
Stores and restaurants at Fancher Creek
The building with walls that’s nearly finished past In-N-Out and the traffic circle is a US Bank.
Just behind it, construction has recently started on a Chipotle.
It doesn’t have any walls or floors yet. But, a Chipotle representative said the restaurant is expected to be open by the end of the year.
Michaels, the craft store, is still on track to open in the center, according to Tracy Kashian, senior vice president of marketing and public relations for both Fancher Creek and River Park in north Fresno.
HomeGoods, the popular discount decor and gift store, is gearing up for its grand opening at Fancher Creek from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Thursday, July 30.
Inside tip: Although the grand opening celebration is July 30, the store is scheduled to hold its soft opening (when they quietly open to the public to work out the kinks before the big day) Tuesday, July 28, according to Kashian.
The store joins Sprouts, Target and In-N-Out, which opened to long lines last winter. PetSmart opened at the end of May.
What about Starbucks?
For now, Starbucks is not coming, Kashian said.
The coffee giant was teased on marketing materials, and talks were happening with the company, she said.
“But it never went through,” she said. “It doesn’t mean it won’t happen in the future, but not right now.”
However, there is a Starbucks up and running inside Target.
A second phase of construction will include a movie theater and more retail spaces.
Two apartment complexes - Brandhaven senior housing and Sarah’s Court family housing - are also open near the center.
