A lottery player in Eastern Washington multiplied their earnings to take home a big win ahead of the weekend, according to lottery officials.
The Mega Millions player matched four white balls and the gold Mega Millions ball in the drawing on Friday, July 17, to win $10,000, a Washington’s Lottery spokesperson said.
The player used a multiplier to quintuple their winnings, resulting in a total haul of $50,000.

The winning ticket was sold at Park-N-Pak, 905 East Lincoln Ave. in Sunnyside, according to the Washington’s Lottery spokesperson.
Sunnyside is about a 50-minute drive from Kennewick.
What were the winning Mega Millions numbers?
The winning numbers in Friday’s drawing were 23, 34, 45, 48 and 55 with a Mega Ball of 14, according to Washington’s Lottery.
The lottery says the odds of winning the $10,000 prize, by matching four white balls and the Mega Ball, is one in 894,000.

As of Monday, July 20, the Mega Millions jackpot was $707 million, with a cash option of $307.7 million.
Players have a one-in-290 million chance of winning the jackpot, according to Washington’s Lottery.
How does Mega Millions game lottery work?

Included in each ticket is a randomized multiplier, either two, three, four, five or ten. Friday’s winner had a multiplier of five, turning their $10,000 win into $50,000.
To participate, players purchase a ticket and select five numbers between 1 and 70, plus a Mega Ball number between 1 and 24.
While matching all six drawn balls has the biggest payout, there are nine ball combinations that can bring home the bucks, according to the lottery:
