In the six-month period stretching from January to June 2026, the vital energy storage equipment was overwhelmingly imported from China, which accounted for 1.62 billion dollars, or 89.7% of total volumes. Other notable suppliers included Czechia, delivering 44.5 million dollars worth of equipment, and Poland, contributing 19.8 million dollars.
A focused monthly analysis reveals that in June alone, the importation of electric batteries into Ukraine doubled year-over-year to 335.6 million dollars.
Domestic Ukrainian entities managed to export 21.3 million dollars worth of batteries during the initial six months of the year. The primary destination markets for these shipments were Poland, France, and Germany.

Structural shift from generators to storage Units
The latest customs registry highlights an evolving domestic strategy, showing a distinct transition from traditional fossil-fuel generators toward modern battery infrastructure:
Declining Generator Trade: The import of electric generating sets and rotary converters into Ukraine dropped by 34.4% during the first six months of 2026 compared to the first half of 2025, falling to a total value of 499.6 million dollars.
Diversified Generator Supply: For the January–June window, these power generators and converters were predominantly brought in from China (22.4% of total volume, or 112.1 million dollars), Czechia (19.3%, or 96.6 million dollars), and Turkiye (14.6%, or 73 million dollars).

This long-term trade acceleration was set in motion in July 2024, when the Ukrainian government introduced sweeping legislative tax cuts, officially exempting electric generators and battery storage equipment from all domestic customs duties and value-added tax (VAT).
The policy catalyst had already yielded substantial impacts throughout the prior annual cycle. According to the State Customs Service, across the entirety of 2025, Ukraine expanded its imports of electric generators and converters 2.3-fold compared to 2024, reaching 1.69 billion dollars, while total battery imports climbed by 55% to hit 1.48 billion dollars.
