One of the final unsigned rookies is officially under contract.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Arizona Cardinals have agreed to terms with third-round quarterback Carson Beck on a four-year, $7.4 million rookie deal, ending any uncertainty before training camp.
With the contract behind him, Beck can now focus entirely on football and perhaps an opportunity that could arrive sooner than expected.
The former Miami quarterback enters the NFL after leading the Hurricanes to a national championship game appearance, showcasing the poise and arm talent that convinced Arizona to invest a third-round pick in him. While Beck isn’t expected to open the season as the starter, the quarterback situation remains far from settled.
Veteran Jacoby Brissett is the favorite to begin the year under center, but his contract situation has become an interesting subplot. Brissett reportedly wants a new deal, and the Cardinals have yet to give him one, leaving at least some uncertainty surrounding the position heading into camp.
Even if Beck doesn’t start immediately, he’ll have every opportunity to prove he belongs in Arizona’s long-term plans. The bigger challenge, however, is the roster around him.
The Cardinals are entering 2026 in the middle of another rebuilding season after moving on from Kyler Murray. Expectations remain low, with many around the league projecting Arizona to finish near the bottom of the standings. The roster simply lacks the depth and star power needed to compete consistently in a loaded NFC.
Still, rebuilding teams need reasons for optimism, and Beck represents one of them.
Whether he spends most of his rookie season learning behind Brissett or eventually earns an opportunity to start, the Cardinals now have their developmental quarterback under contract. In a season where victories may be hard to come by, Beck’s progress could become one of the franchise’s most important storylines.
