It sounds like the upcoming MCU movie Avengers: Secret Wars will serve as a reset for the franchise, according to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.
In a recent interview (via Discussing Film), Feige claimed that Secret Wars will “establish” a new universe. He believes this new universe will be “easier for audiences to follow.” While it will feature “familiar” aspects, a lot of it “will be entirely new.”
“It will establish a streamlined, simplified, single universe that’s easier for audiences to follow. Some aspects will feel familiar. But many, many things will be entirely new,” he explained.

What does this mean for the MCU post-Avengers: Secret Wars?
Feige’s comments point towards the end of the MCU as fans know it and the beginning of something different. Some may have felt like Endgame was the conclusion of the first part of the MCU. However, Doomsday and Secret Wars, the forthcoming Avengers movies, appear to be the crescendo.
Old and new Marvel actors will share the silver screen. Robert Downey Jr., who famously played Tony Stark/Iron Man, is back as Doctor Doom. Chris Evans will also return as Steve Rogers.
Doomsday and Secret Wars appear to be a two-part event like the last two Avengers movies, Infinity War and Endgame. They are being directed by the Russo brothers (Joe and Anthony) and written by Michael Waldron and Christopher Markus.
Feige has been the president of Marvel Studios since 2007. He is the primary producer of the MCU movies, making him the face of the franchise, which has grossed billions of dollars.
The next MCU project before Doomsday is Spider-Man: Brand New Day. This marks the fourth Tom Holland-led solo movie. He becomes the first Spider-Man actor to receive four movies.
Brand New Day will come out on July 31, 2026. It is the first MCU movie released this year and will be the last one before Doomsday. It comes out two weeks after Holland’s last movie, The Odyssey.
