Two men were arrested early Wednesday morning after they broken into an Easton home where a mother and her three children were sleeping, according to police.
Ernst Lacrete, of Quincy, and Lavar Benson, of Boston, both 25, pleaded not guilty to home invasion and three illegal gun charges during their arraignments in Taunton District Court on Wednesday, according to court records.
Easton police responded to the home invasion after a home alarm activated around midnight Tuesday night, according to police. A mother who was at home with her three children told dispatchers she thought she could hear an intruder.
At the scene, the mother told officers she could hear two suspects at the back of the home, police said. The suspects ran from the home, but two officers chased after them and soon arrested one.
A Massachusetts State Police K-9 unit tracked down the second suspect a short time later, police said. The second suspect was found to be carrying a loaded Glock handgun with a high-capacity magazine.
During their arraignments, a judge ordered both Lacrete and Benson held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing on July 27, according to court records.
No further information about the incident has been released.
