Police were investigating a shooting at the Childs Park YMCA that injured two people Wednesday afternoon.
Police responded about 2:10 p.m. to a shooting call at the YMCA, 691 43rd St. S., and found a “young man” in the bathroom who had been shot, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department. The person was taken to a hospital.
A short time later, another young man arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound.
Police have not released their names and did not have an update on their conditions as of Wednesday afternoon.
No other details have been released.
A notice on the YMCA’s website posted at 2:35 p.m. said the location is closed until further notice.
The YMCA is typically open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Police said the shooting is not related to another shooting in the 4100 block of 12th Avenue South, about a half-mile southeast of the YMCA, that left a city sanitation worker dead.
