The second entry in the Cosmic Era timeline, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom, cemented the continuity as being second only to the Universal Century in terms of popularity. This has seen it receive numerous model kits and collectibles to this day, with one of these set to "deactivate" an iconic mecha.
The RG 1/144 Strike Freedom Gundam Deactive Mode recreates Kira Yamato's iconic mobile suit, but with a colorless twist. This contrasts with the usual color of the design, giving a look at it without its armor mode activated. Now available to pre-order in the West, it casts a new light on a fan-favorite design.

Bandai's RG 1/144 Strike Freedom Gundam Deactive Mode is a Real Grade model kit that features extensive detail and articulation in a small, affordable package. Meant to represent the mecha when it's not covered in Phase Shift armor, it switches the usual white, red and blue color scheme for dark, muted gray. This concept extends to the internal frame, which features matte silver in the place of gold. To recreate elements such as metallic accents, sensor details and other markings, realistic decals can be added to the model kit.
For weapons, the kit includes Beam Rifles, a Beam Saber, Rail Guns and a Beam Shield. Along with the ability to combine the Beam Rifles into one firearm, the Rail Guns can be attached at the waist, whereas the wings bear plasma beam cannons. These wings are the Super DRAGOON Wings, which are articulated in their own right and can be posed to recreate the mobile suit's Full Burst mode.
Originally sold through Premium Bandai over a decade ago, the kit was first announced as coming to the U.S. just this year, with the original shipment scheduled for September 2026. Now, it can be pre-ordered once again for a later November 2026 shipment, with Premium Bandai US offering it for $46 and the pre-order window closing on Oct. 16.
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny first aired in 2004 as the second major entry in the Cosmic Era timeline. While many saw the first Mobile Suit Gundam SEEDanime series as a modernization of the original 1979 Mobile Suit Gundam, the sequel cemented this particular timeline's popularity, and it's one of the only non-Universal Century continuities to be continually revisited years after it started.
